Privacy Policy

About this policy

This policy explains how Climb Retail (NSW) Pty Ltd, trading as Climb Recruitment (ABN 84 629 271 334) ("Climb Recruitment", "we", "us", "our") collects, holds, uses and discloses personal information, through our website climbrecruitment.com.au and in providing our services. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

Our website, its job board and its forms are built, hosted and managed for us by our technology provider, Refari Pty Ltd ("Refari"). Refari handles applications, registrations and enquiries made through our website on our behalf. For some things, such as job alerts, referrer accounts and recognising returning visitors, Refari also acts on its own account, under its own privacy policy at privacy.refari.co.

The personal information we collect

Depending on how you deal with us, we may collect:

  • your name and contact details, such as your email address, phone number and location;
  • what you tell us in an enquiry or a form, including any file you attach;
  • if you apply for a role or register with us: your résumé or CV, work history, qualifications, skills, the kind of work you are looking for, your answers to any screening questions, and any cover letter or other documents you provide;
  • if we approach you about a role: information from public professional profiles and job sites;
  • during the recruitment process: interview notes, references, and, with your consent, the results of any checks a role requires;
  • if you are a client or a contact at an employer: your role, your organisation and the roles you are recruiting for;
  • if you refer someone to us: the details you give us about them, which you should only provide with their knowledge;
  • information about your use of our website, such as your IP address, browser and device, the pages you visit and when (see "Cookies, device identifiers and analytics").

How we collect and hold it

We collect personal information directly from you when you use our website, apply for a job, register with us, or contact us by email or phone. We may also collect it from referees, someone who refers you to us, public professional profiles, job sites and employers we work with. Some information is collected automatically when you browse our website.

We hold personal information in our recruitment system, the candidate database Refari runs for us, our email and our business records.

Why we collect, use and hold it

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiry and provide the recruitment services you ask for;
  • assess your suitability for roles, contact you about opportunities, and, with your agreement, put you forward to prospective employers;
  • understand the needs of employers who ask us to find staff for them;
  • send you job alerts and other information you have asked for;
  • run, secure and improve our website and services;
  • meet our legal obligations.

Sensitive information

We do not need sensitive information (such as health information, criminal record, racial or ethnic origin, or union membership) through our website, so please leave it out of your résumé. If you include it, we will only keep it with your consent and where it is relevant to the roles you are seeking. If a role needs a check, such as a police check, we will ask for your consent first.

Artificial intelligence and automated processing

Our technology provider uses artificial intelligence services to read the résumés you send us, so your details can be added to our candidate database, and to help draft job advertisements and alerts. Those AI providers do not use your information to train their models.

A person makes every decision about whether to put you forward for a role. Ask us if you would like to know more.

Who we share it with

We may disclose personal information to:

  • prospective employers and clients, as part of the recruitment process;
  • referees you have named, to check your references;
  • service providers who help us run our business, including Refari (our website, job board and candidate database), the email service that delivers website enquiries to us, artificial intelligence services that read résumés and the analytics tools named below;
  • our professional advisers, such as accountants and lawyers;
  • government bodies and others where the law requires or allows it.

We do not sell personal information. Employers pay us for recruitment services, and we share your details with them only as this policy describes.

Overseas disclosure

Our website, forms and candidate records are hosted in Australia (Amazon Web Services, Sydney). Some recipients are overseas, mainly in the United States: the email service that delivers enquiries and their attachments to us (Mailgun), the artificial intelligence services our technology provider uses to read résumés, Google (maps and analytics) and Ahrefs Web Analytics. We take reasonable steps to make sure overseas recipients handle personal information in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Cookies, device identifiers and analytics

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to make it work and to remember your choices. We use Google Analytics and Ahrefs Web Analytics to understand how visitors use our website.

Features on our website provided by Refari (such as the job board, testimonials and ratings) use cookies, browser storage and a device identifier (a fingerprint of your browser) to run the features, recognise returning visitors, including across other websites that use Refari's features, and protect against abuse. Refari's privacy policy at privacy.refari.co explains this.

Some pages include a Google map and YouTube videos, which may set their own cookies when you use them.

You can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies; some features may then not work. Refusing cookies does not stop a device identifier being used.

Job alerts

Job alerts are sent by Refari for us. You can stop them at any time with the unsubscribe link in any alert, or by contacting us.

Keeping your information secure

Our website and forms use encrypted connections (HTTPS), and the submissions we store are encrypted and held on access-controlled systems. We keep personal information while we need it for the purposes in this policy or as the law requires, and take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it when it is no longer needed. You can ask us to delete your information at any time.

Accessing and correcting your information

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is wrong, out of date or incomplete. To ask, email hello [at] climbrecruitment.com.au, or use the contact form on our website (https://climbrecruitment.com.au/contact-us/), or call 1800 467 723. There is no charge to make a request. We will respond within a reasonable time, usually within 30 days. If we cannot give you access, or do not make a correction, we will tell you why, and you can ask us to attach a statement to your information.

Marketing

If we send you job alerts, newsletters or other marketing, you can opt out at any time with the unsubscribe link in the message, by replying STOP to a text message, or by contacting us. You can also ask us where we got your details.

Young people

If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before applying for a role or registering with us.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled your personal information, please contact us first. We will look into it and respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (www.oaic.gov.au, 1300 363 992).

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page. This policy was last updated on 21 October 2026.
